2010 Aiken Steeplechase

The Aiken Steeplechase happens twice a year and this year we met up with some friends to watch the races. Neat event and a fun afternoon but poor Christie got roasted. We should have brought the sunscreen.

This is the carriage parade. Just looking at the pictures will make you talk with an english accent.

That guy on the left in the orange and white was leading the whole race and then lost it at the end. My money was on the orange and white. I lost.

I think the guy I had my money on in this race was so far behind he didn't even get in the picture. Yeah, I wasn't too successful at the races. Good thing we only had $1 bets.

2010 Cloverleaf Duathlon

There was a local race on Saturday. I ran this race 2 years ago and it was a lot harder than I expected. This time was just as hard.
Just getting ready for the race. Once again Christie came and was my biggest fan and a great photographer.
Waiting for the gun...
Coming in from the first run and getting ready to jump on the bike.

This is after the bike ride. 10 miles of non-stop hills.

Coming in for the finish! The legs were burning.

Relief and a cup of fruit. This race was not as successful as last weekend. I finished in 1:06:15 and that was enough for 26th place overall and 4th in the 20-29 year old age group. Oh well, I guess I need to train more.

Hiking

One of the local parks has a 5K cross country course that we run sometimes and walk other times. The dogs have a great time sniffing everything and then usually peeing on it too.

2010 Heart and Sole 5K

Just getting ready to race. It was a beautiful morning but coooold!

The start of the race! I got a good jump but didn't hold it.

This is me finishing. My actual time was 20:15! A new personal best. The next race I will have to break the 20 minute mark. I came in 10th place overall out of over 800 racers! The finishing clock was a couple seconds off but Christie got some great pictures!

Addy and Lexi staying warm

The dogs were shivering some on the cold mornings so Christie and I found some clearance jackets at Petsmart and they love them.
